Guy Smiley

We can officially say the smiles are not gas related.  Well, not all of them at least.  He still smiles like an idiot pretty much every time he farts, but I can usually elicit a pretty good smile when I ask.  Too bad he's not cute, right?

Another milestone

Alex is officially sans training wheels!!!  Thanks Grandpa Z for taking the wheels off and thanks Auntie Kim for running behind him until he got it!  There were some spills upon stopping until he figured out the timing of putting his foot down, and we're still working on the starts, but this kid is training wheel free.

Quiet

The boys are coming home today!  They left on Sunday evening and have been soaking up hours upon hours of undivided attention from their aunt, uncle, and cousins in Platteville.  According to the updates I've been getting, they are having a great time and both are being very good.  Here's to hopin' that's actually the truth.

It has been so eerily quiet in our house.  And clean.  It's amazing how clean a house can stay when the kitchen isn't piling up with baby bottles and there isn't a 5 year old bringing every single Lego to the living room table.

Since they've been gone, I have realized a couple things:

1.  We are really boring without them.  At least from a writing stand point.  It's been nice to have some time to ourselves, but man...we are not exciting people.

2.  I'm really excited to see them today and have them home, buuuuuuut.....if they could just sleep somewhere else so I can keep getting these full nights of sleep, that would be awesome.

Check-Up

Getting vaccinated is tiring stuff.

He is gonna be one hungry baby when he wakes up.  He was due to eat about 2 hours ago.  I haven't started any projects or laid down to grab a quick nap since I'm positive he's going to wake up starving at any moment.

Tough Questions

While inspecting a mini Buddha figurine I have in the kitchen:

"Mom, is Buddha a boy or a girl?"
"He's a boy."
"Then why does he have big boobs?"

Euphemisms

I woke up a bit late this morning and had to be in a hurry to get Alex ready so he didn't miss breakfast at daycare.  Could I have taken my time and just fed him myself?  Yes, probably.  But I'm not paying them for me to feed him, so there.

Alex wasn't feelin' the whole get up and go thing this morning, and he really didn't want to get dressed.  So, in an effort to remedy that, I told him we should race to see who could get dressed faster.  He was totally down for that.  About 30 seconds into our race, Alex declared, "I'm totally gonna win 'cause I already almost have my shirt on and you still have to put on your boob holder."

Touché little man.  Touché.

Don't Get it Twisted

By the way, I do actually call Sam "Samalamadingdong" fairly often.  But Alex hates it.  I called Sam that the other day while Alex was within earshot and Alex looked at me like I was the biggest asshat he's ever known and said, "His name is Samuel Robert, Mom."  Well alright then, I stand corrected.

Clues

Alex went to a movie yesterday.  I thought they saw Ninja Turtles.  Turns out I was wrong...

Alex:  I hope I get to go to off to echo again today.
Me:  ...huh?
Alex:  Off to echo.  I want to go again today.
Me:  What's "off to echo?"
Alex:  No...off to echo.
Me:  Off to echo?
Alex:  NO. OFF.  Off.  To.  Echo.
Me:  Uff to echo?  Honey, I don't know what that is.
Alex:  No Mom.  Off to echo.
Me:  Off?
Alex:  No.  Off.
Me:  Uff?  Off?  I'm sorry sweetie, I don't know what you're saying.
Alex:  Off.  Off, Mom.  Like...what planet are we on right now?
Me:  OH!!!  EARTH!  Earth to Echo!  That's the movie you saw?  I thought you saw Ninja Turtles.

The Race Is On

This was the last clean bottle.  I now have a sink full of bottles to be washed.  And I have approximately 3-4 hours until Samalamadingdong will want to eat again.  I realize this seems like ample time to accomplish such a task, but with now being officially back to working (albeit from home) and taking care of this baby that doesn't just sleep the day away anymore and the ever important blogging, I can hear the time ticking away.

Quitter

Blogging is hard work.

Status quo

The mosquitoes this year are out of control.  I'm sure it doesn't help that our lawn is much grassier than our lawn at the old house, but good gravy.  Every time we let the dog in or out, a baker's dozen of the little bastards get in the house.

I got a new sprinkler for Alex for his birthday and we tried to use it last night.  Both of us sprayed down with bug spray and after the 37th bite between the two of us, we gave up.  Which was a shame because that sprinkler is hilarious.  It was a very good thing I recently learned that Orajel takes the itch out of bug bites.  Alex may have had more Orajel than skin by the time I had all the bites covered, but he didn't scratch each one to the point of bleeding, so I figure we'll call that a win.

After I had the elder beast child in bed, I was on the phone while in the living room and I got bitten by mosquitoes four times.  Four times.  While IN MY HOUSE.  And one of the times, the little jerk was biting the side of my face and I brilliantly forgot I was wearing my glasses when I violently smacked the side of my head to kill the flying assailant.  I am shocked I don't have a bruise on the bridge of my nose where my glasses slammed into my face.  But?  I got him.

Basically what I'm getting at here is that even with a second baby, I still have complete control over my surroundings.  I got this.

No joke, another one just buzzed passed my head.  That's it.  I'm painting the walls with OFF.

Chipmunk

We've been told Sam has some substantial cheeks.
Ya think?

Snuggles or Dishes?

I'll take snuggles...the dishes will still be dirty when we are done here.
Do you see why I get nothing (including keeping up on this blog) accomplished during the day?
